Verbal Behavior Training

The exchange of information, whether spoken, through sign, communication device or picture exchange, is the most important skill your child requires to access their world. If your child is not communicating or is communicating at a significantly lower level than peers of the same age, the conveyance of basic wants, needs and desires can appear inappropriate, unusual or seemingly absent. Fortunately, decades of Applied Behavior Analysis research suggests all persons regardless of physical, mental and/or cognitive disabilities are able to acquire new sets of imperative behaviors.

Cayer Behavioral Group will conduct an assessment based on The Verbal Behavior Milestone and Assessment Program (VB-MAPP). This assessment will provide data based on your child’s unprompted responses that will allow our staff to create a developmentally appropriate, socially significant protocol to teach your child suitable replacement behaviors. Programs are developed and implemented across school, home and all community-based environments to increase the rate of acquisition and generalization, and all phases are developed and monitored by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Early Intervention Services

Early intervention services are federally mandated to eligible children. According to the U.S. Department of Education, there are three primary reasons for accessing early intervention: to maximize the child and family’s benefit to society, to enhance a child’s development, and to provide support and assistance to the family.

CBG provides early intervention to children between the ages zero to three, particularly those who are at risk of developmental delay. Research suggests the rate of learning and development is maximized during the initial preschool years. Our primary goal is to maximize your child’s development by teaching skills that typically develop during the first three years of life.

Early Intervention Services may occur at your home, at your child’s school or at a predetermined community location and will be supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Individualized Education Plan Consultation

Cayer Behavioral Group offers consultation during the development and monitoring phase of your child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to provide data-driven, socially significant goals to help teachers and paraprofessional staff deliver a meaningful school day for your child.

CBG will also develop secondary and tertiary goals to promote a high rate of skill acquisition throughout the nine month school year and will monitor the progress your child makes through their IEP goals. All phases of IEP consultations will be developed and monitored by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Behavior Support Plans

Behavior Support Plans are developed based on the needs of each individual child and evolve through a Functional Behavior Assessment. This scientific assessment tool produces results based on environmental factors, behaviors of excess and deficit, private events and the current developmental skill level. Based on the results, Cayer Behavioral Group will develop a comprehensive plan outlining replacement behavior strategies to decrease observable inappropriate behaviors while simultaneously increasing positive, socially significant behaviors.

It’s important to note these assessments and plans are data-driven and can be fluid. As your child’s behavior changes, especially if data suggests the behavior is maintained by a different variable, a new Functional Behavior Assessment will be completed and new strategies are developed to assist your child and your family. Individual Behavior Support Plans are developed and implemented in schools, homes and all community-based environments. All phases of the Behavior Support Plans are monitored and developed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Daily Living Skills Programs

Cayer Behavioral Group recognizes the social significance involved in teaching independent care to clients of all ages because children and adolescents with developmental disabilities often require increased assistance with daily living skills to functionally participate in our community.

The individualized Daily Living Skills Program breaks down a whole skill into many teachable units, and each program will be designed to meet the needs of the individual. Daily living skills include but are not limited to toilet training, dressing skills, brushing teeth, bathing, meal time (eating, preparing food and cleaning up) and bedtime routines. Programs may be implemented across any environment in which your child or adolescent requires assistance, and all phases will be developed and monitored by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Individualized Feeding Programs

Cayer Behavioral Group offers Individualized Feeding Programs (IFP) based on your child’s food sensitivity issues. Our staff will use research-based approaches during the assessment, development and treatment phases, which will include a thorough understanding of medical history and direct observation of your child’s mealtime behavior before, during and after eating.

To complete the assessment, CBG will compile data on antecedents which may contribute to your child’s food refusal and will conduct an analysis of environmental stimuli such as eating environment, timing of meals, types of edibles being presented, the order in which the food is being presented and the presence of the feeding parent’s behavior will receive analysis. Following the assessment, Cayer Behavioral Group will develop, implement and maintain an Individualized Feeding Plan to meet the needs of your child and your family. Programs may be implemented across any environment in which your child engages in food sensitivity issues, and all phases will be developed and monitored by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Guided Academic Success

Cayer Behavioral Group offers guided academic success to children and adolescents for all subject areas based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Through a reinforcement assessment, Cayer Behavioral Group will determine your child’s specific motivating variable(s). CBG will also observe your child at school to ensure the success plan is consistent with the child’s natural school environment.

Once the assessment is complete, Cayer Behavioral Group will build a customized success plan for your child, which will include consistent communication system between your child’s teacher, your family and your CBG consultant to increases the likeliness of your child’s development . All phases of academic guiding will be supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and may occur at your child’s school, at your home or in the community.
